About

Assembly for the Arts and the Cleveland Arts Prize occupy the southwest corner of theMidTown Collaboration Center (MCC). As MCC cotenants, we have partnered to establish Corridor 106 Galleryspace dedicated to showcasing the work of Cleveland-based visual artists awarded Assembly’s Creative Impact Fund as well as artists honored with a Cleveland Arts Prize.

Currently on view: Portraits & Expressions

Portraits & Expressions brings together a dynamic group of award‑winning Northeast Ohio artists whose practices reinterpret the human experience through gesture, imagination, and the intimate act of looking. This exhibition pairs realism with abstraction, narrative with symbolism, and observation with memory—revealing the many ways artists shape identity on canvas, paper and sculpture.

Featuring work by Amber Kempthorn, Frank Oriti, Corrie Slawson, Darius Steward, Amy Casey, Thomas Hudson, Alyssa Lizzini and Lauren Yeager, the show highlights artists celebrated for their distinct voices and recognized through major regional honors, including Assembly for the Arts’ Creative Impact Fund and the Cleveland Arts Prize.

Together, their works form a vibrant tapestry of contemporary portraiture—sometimes literal, sometimes metaphorical, always deeply human. Portraits & Expressions invites viewers to consider how we reveal ourselves, how we interpret others, and how artists translate the complexities of lived experience into compelling visual form. On view through January 2027.
