Why Research Matters

Building a Stronger Arts & Culture Sector

Research helps us understand Greater Cleveland’s arts and culture landscape and the evolving needs of artists, organizations, and creative businesses. For more than two decades, arts support organizations have collected data, studied trends, and explored solutions to strengthen the sector.

Ultimately, research is a tool for action. By understanding our creative ecosystem today, we can make better decisions for tomorrow and help ensure that the future of arts and culture in Greater Cleveland is reflective, equitable, and effective.

Measuring Impact

Research helps demonstrate the value of arts and culture in our region. It provides data and stories that show how the creative sector contributes to economic growth, neighborhood vitality, education, health, and quality of life.

Connecting People and Ideas

Through ongoing research, we highlight best practices, identify emerging trends, and foster collaboration across disciplines. These insights help connect artists, organizations, funders, advocates, and community partners around shared goals.

Supporting Your Work

Whether you’re applying for grants, seeking funding, building partnerships, or advocating for the arts, research can help you communicate your impact and make a stronger case for the value of your work.

Making Informed Decisions

We believe the best decisions are grounded in evidence. By prioritizing research, we can better understand what’s working, identify areas of need, and ensure that strategies, investments, and policies are both effective and responsive to the community.
